Everything they say is true

Everything they say about Bled is true, and more.

It really is a fairytale town with a deep blue sparkling lake, castles on every corner of the lake, and jagged mountains protecting it.

It’s very surreal too. Bled doesn’t just feel like a fairytale land. It feels like an escape.

These days, I work in a newsroom with 4 TV screens simultaneously showing different news channels – CNN, BBC, SkyNews, etc. So my days are filled with a continuous loop of images of all the ills of the world – a bad economy, violence in Syria and Libya, riots in London, earthquakes and hurricanes in the US, and everything else.

It’s nice to know there is a place in the world away from all these struggles. A place where the biggest problem is a windy day and a poorly-timed rain shower. And while I only get to stay here for a week, I surely will enjoy every moment of it.

An Evening with Andy McKee

I’ve been a fan of Andy McKee for a long time. Most of what I know about his music though came from Youtube, until last Friday that is. Andy was in town last week (in town for me is London these days) and I had a chance to see him live at Union Chapel.

All I can say is wow. Not only is Andy a great musician, he’s also a really great guy – incredibly talented and incredibly humble.
